The Lord's work

I am so grateful to be able to be the Lord´s missionary!  But I am constantly reminded that this is not my work, not the missionary´s work, but the Lord´s work.  And it is such an honor that each one of us can take part of that work!  As we work to become more like Him, but also as we serve others as He would!  This week, we have once again had a lot of help from the members, and I am learning even more how important each one of us is in this work.  As missionaries, we are always teaching how to come unto Christ, but every one of us has the ability to serve others as Christ would.  This week, I have seen how important and useful each one of us are, as there have been members presenting us to their friends, aquaintances, and family, and as they also help teach and bear testimony to them about Christ.  And what joy I have seen brought into the lives and faces of those they share with! And those who share!  It is another testimony that this is God´s work, and He wants us all to return to live with Him.  We all take part in His ´work and glory´ as we help those we know follow the path that Christ has shown us.

This next week is going to be a busy week!  There are 21 missionaries that we have to get home, 13 missionaries that are getting here, and a conference for about 30 missionary leaders that the office will help with!  I am excited to serve the Lord, even if it is in helping with things like these and isn´t always in teaching those I meet here in Ecuador!  I have found joy in doing what the Lord asks me to do!  I hope we can all do the same!  I truly testify that this is where we find the most satisfying and everlasting joy!  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

The work of God

This week we have been searching for more people to teach!  It is incredible to be working in this work, because there are lots of member who are more than willing to help us, and more importantly, help God in His work!  We have had quite a few referals from the ward members and leaders, and they are all very involved in the work, organizing activites to invite non members, and fulfiling their callings and responsabilities!  They are a great example to me!  And the wonderful part is even though they may have to spend more time in their calling or helping us, they are so happy and they joy we all have from working together and sharing the gospel and living the gospel is more that rewarding for the efforts we put in!  We can feel the happiness and true joy in this ward, as they all participate in being active and serving and mutually progressing towards God!  When we all do our part, God´s church will thrive and create joy and happiness for all those affect by it!

They are an example for me, and it increases my desire to be active and do my best to truly magnify whatever calling I might have in the church, and do my best to serve others in every moment!  I hope we all have a wonderful week, searching for ways to serve others!

Learning English

This week, we have been meeting the ward members and leaders, since Elder Spencer and I are both fairly new in the ward.  We are basically opening a sector!  So it is an interesting experience.  It is a little tough not having a lot of people to teach, but that leaves lots of time to find new people, and visit members!

President Zambrano (the stake president that helps out the mission office as a taxi driver) is learning english, so I have been teaching him simple little phrases in english this week!  He already speaks spanish in a very slurred, harder to understand way, so listening to his english, and watching him try to pronounce and remember the words is a lot of fun!  It is a lot of fun to work with him, and to teach him english!

I hope we all continue learning more of Christ, and continue becoming more like Him!  Have a great week!

Constantly Learning

Hello all, I hope you are all doing well!  I don´t have a lot to say this week, but I can say that it is so often that I can see God´s hand in all that we do in His work.  It is amazing to see things working out almost perfectly so often, even if it is just to talk to a certain person, even just for a few seconds, but I can feel that we are always helping God in His purposes, even if we can´t see the results or the big plan.  But He lets us know, through the Holy Ghost, that we are helping Him in what He needs as long as we are doing our best to be obedient and diligently serve Him.

I just want to remind you all that as I have been constantly learning Christ´s gospel, I have really come to know God and Christ, and in turn, I feel that I am better able to represent Christ, and better able to help uplift and serve everyone that is around me.  I know that as we come to know Him better, by studying scriptures, being obedient, and experimenting on His word, we will find more joy in our lives and be able to spread joy to the lives of others.

Enjoy your week!

Small examples

This week I have seen the results of always being a good example!  People are always watching what we do, and I have received a stronger testimony of that this week.  One night, we were at a little pharmacy to get something to quench our thirst, and as we were checking out at the counter I felt impressed to ask how the lady´s night was going who was at the register.  She kind of seemed surprised after I asked and she asked me why I asked her.  I told her that I was just curious, and then my companion asked if anyone every asked her that.  She said that people did not normally ask her how her night was, so we told her that we would, so that somebody would.  She smiled and then she said the missionaries always have a mark and a special spirit about them.  Just by constantly trying to follow Christ and represent Him, this lady has been edified and has felt the spirit through the missionaries.  Also, at the Ministry building, I have become pretty good friends with a few of the people who work there, and every time we come in, their faces light up, and, maybe they don´t realize it, but they can feel the spirit of God as we, as missionaries and members, strive to represent Christ and serve others as He would.  I was even able to get the address and number of one of the people that works at the Ministry so that the elders from where he lives can visit him.  We have also been able to teach the lady that works at the post office a little about the temples.  All of this is possible as we are constantly trying to edify, and the hearts of others are softened as they feel the Holy Ghost through our examples.  It creates a perfect environment, especially over time, to be able to share the gospel and teach simple restored truths and doctrines to those who do not know them, and for those who do, it can give hope, and lift of the spirits of those who need our help and constant example.

I hope we can all contantly serve others as Christ would, to be able to spread His gospel, and to bless the lives of all, as we represent Him here on earth for all who see us!  And I hope we can all find the courage to share the gospel with those who don´t know it, and always strive to learn more about His gospel.
